The news is good for High Position as market trends demonstrate record growth in online advertising for the first half of 2007. The figures published in a report by Internet Advertising Bureau, PricewaterhouseCoopers and the World Advertising Research Centre suggest the future will remain positive with the industry expected to grow to unprecedented levels in the coming year.
The report shows that £1.3billion was spent on online advertising compared to £917.2million in the same period last year. That represents a growth of 41.3%; a rate of growth that Guy Phillipson the chief executive of IAB has called "Astounding".
With the spend figure expected to rise to £2.75billion by the end of the year it is no wonder the industry is excited.
The figures are particularly pertinent to High Position as they demonstrate that advertisers recognise the importance of search engine search to build brands and sell products. With nine out of ten UK households now on broadband and 52% of all adults in Britain connected at home it is no wonder that experts see no signs of the growth levelling out.
Ofcom report that daily web use up 158% in the past four years which has contributed to making online advertising the fastest-growing advertising medium. Web analytics make it easy for advertisers to quantify the efficiency of their online advertising. 1.4billion search queries took place in the month of July; 80% of which resulted in a click through to a website. With online advertising mushrooming the future for press and radio advertising looks bleak.
