Over the next few years the Yahoo search engine and directory grew and gradually moved into a worldwide resource with versions for many countries from different continents. First of all Yahoo Japan was launched with Yahoo UK following closely on its heels, advertising revenue was growing with each country based launch and already diversification was starting to show itself.
Over the following months Yahoo launched Yahoo Germany, Yahoo France and Yahoo Singapore and also Yahoo Australia, the pace of this expansion was extreme when compared to traditional business which also reflects on the almost immeasurable rapid expansion in Internet use and accessibility.
Diversification saw the introduction of Yahoo chat and then classified advertising, in the third quarter of 1997 and only three years after the start of this world leading brand Yahoo launched its mail service.
The Internet was now polarizing certain business sectors as the demand for information started to show massive growth in markets sectors such as travel, finance, sport, auto’s and recruitment. This saw the launch of Yahoo Travel and then Yahoo Sport and all this whilst Yahoo is only in year three. In the US visitor levels carried on growing and users passed the 25 million benchmark (still in year 3).
1998 saw Yahoo moving into ever more countries, the internet saw huge booms in shopping and online spending during this period and so naturally recognizing this opportunity it launched Yahoo shopping, Yahoo Auctions and also Yahoo Games.
