Google Regulations

2006- So here we are, full circle, from linking to linking, but once again compliance dictates that a website's linking must conform to strict guidelines. We are now at a point where Google has publicly stated, "get compliant as we are now able to tell if you are not". If you don’t think that’s true then just ask the marketing director at BMW and how he felt when Google publicly threw them out for being non compliant with regulations.

Afterthought -

There must be some thought spared for the thousands of people who went out of business whilst the Google guys made their billions and the staff made their millions. Many of those who supported and proclaimed a new era for search in 1996 were now destitute.

For many it wasn’t a deliberate policy of trying to trick and deceive Google, it was an inability to understand and change their ways They could not adapt as fast as their master, businesses run by normal people had grown to rely on the traffic that this monopoly can deliver and once their website was out then it was all over with no warning. One could say that Google owes website owners and agencies nothing, but I wonder what the early days would have been like if the webmasters had hindsight.

Statement -
Manipulating a search engine is a thing of the past, there is now no excuse for not being compliant and improving your website to make it fit for inclusion in a search engines database. Remember, what you get away with today will get you hanged tomorrow!
