Apples Commitment To Customer Service
Posted Friday 30th May 2008 by Catherine
You know there’s nothing worse than getting mid-call on your iPhone or mid-tune on your iPod and running out of battery. And with our ever hectic lives, being near a power supply to re-charge them is not always convenient. But that problem could be about to end.
Apples are working on solar powered technology for iPhones and iPods, filing a patent to stack solar cells under a touch sensitive screen. The problem previously faced by manufacturers when it comes to solar powered technology is the amount of room needed for incorporating solar cells as well as having enough space for buttons and a screen and not having it obscured by your hands. Placing the solar cells beneath the screen overcomes this problem.

Broadband in the Countryside
Posted Friday 23rd May 2008 by Tom P
For many years those in the country waited and waited for broadband to come to their villages and hamlets. Now it seems that overall, the countryside has finally overtaken towns and cities in the connection tables. A recent report released by Ofcom state that nearly sixty percent of rural households now have broadband compared to fifty seven percent of those in urban areas. It may seem rather inconsequential, but it is the first time in the history of broadband that rural areas are better connected that urban regions. Just four years ago it was the case that urban homes were twice as likely to receive broadband as those in the country; undoubtedly the rate of expansion has been rapid.

Greenpeace has recently released a report claiming that the three major games consoles and their manufacturing companies are not doing enough in terms of environmental issues. After a detailed investigation of the materials used in all three major consoles, Greenpeace found that many were harmful to the environment. While the consoles may conform to European regulations, it is argued that the companies, especially Nintendo were not doing enough to limit the detrimental effect they are having upon the environment.

MySpace has just been awarded a gargantuan £120 million after a legal judgment went in their favour over junk messages being sent to the millions of members on the social networking site. The ruling is reported to be the largest ever sum related to spam messages and junk email; although chances of MySpace actually receiving the money are rather slim. The culprits even failed to show up in court for the hearing.
Tune In To Messenger TV
Posted Wednesday 14th May 2008 by Swapna
Microsoft has recently announced the launch of the new Messenger TV, allowing Windows Live Messenger users to watch and share MSN videos whilst talking to friends and family at the same time. These will include programmes, clips, videos and shows, so just when you are chatting online to someone you can catch up on your favourite programmes online together – much like watching TV in the same room.
Microsoft is teaming up with Channel 4 and EMI in providing the content for MSN video, which will include popular Channel 4 clips and music videos. Prior to this new venture, there were no available messaging service that allowed the sharing of videos and programmes’; watching them together online is something that was non-existent.

Search Engine Optimisation Glossary
Posted Wednesday 7th May 2008 by Tom P
For the lay reader the world of search engine optimisation can be confusing and befuddling. Those who work in the optimisation industry tend to bandy around terms that to the outsider can seem like a foreign language. Here is a brief glossary of the terminology used in the search engine optimisation industry most often.
Anchor Text
The anchor text is a phrase or word that is likely to be entered by searchers when using a search engine; it is also referred to as a search query. Naturally, the more popular the anchor text, the harder it is to undergo a process of optimisation for it; as it is harder to achieve high rankings for more competitive phrases.
