Posted Wednesday 9th April 2008 by Swapna
Whoever said looks don’t count! Recent studies reveal that we truly do judge people on face value as potential committed partners. The attitude to relationships in general is given away by the look on your face – so it has been claimed. The recent research revealed that men have a preference over women who appear to have a preference over short-term relationships than women who appear to want long-term commitment.

ISPs Complain over the BBC iPlayer
Posted Wednesday 9th April 2008 by Tom P
With the BBC iPlayer becoming increasingly popular with web users, Internet Service Providers (ISPs) are complaining that the strain placed upon the network is too great. The argument is that on demand television services are straining the networks so much that upgrades will have to be made in order to support the new technology. As always, the crux of the issue is cost, who will have to pay for these upgrades?
Wiimote for XBox 360?
Posted Tuesday 8th April 2008 by Tom P
Rumours are abound in the gaming industry after MTV received information from a undisclosed source that a ‘Wiimote’ style controller for the XBox 360 could be on the shelves as soon as this year. MTV claim that their source is involved in the development of this ‘Wiimote-esque’ controller that seemingly is a copy of the Nintendo design.
It is understood that British developers Rare are working on this new interface and hope that it will be a viable ‘waggling’ control option for games such as Halo, Gears of War and Forza Motorsport. After the success of Nintendo’s Wii in bringing gamers of all ages together it is unsurprising that Microsoft are trying to take a slice of the lucrative family gaming market.

Posted Monday 7th April 2008 by Swapna
Blu-Rays victory over the High-Definition DVD player has shown no impact in Microsoft’s decision to include a Blu-Ray add-on to the Xbox 360 console. Instead, they will be supporting the digital delivery of their games, online.
Since Toshiba had announced that they would no longer be distributing HD DVD, seeing that rival Blu-Ray was stronger in the game. This however, will not mean that Blu-Ray will be sold alongside the Xbox 360. In fact Microsoft are certain that online downloads will see more success.

Industry commentators however think that these dates are wholly optimistic and Windows 7 is probably further away than Microsoft predictions.

Protecting Our Children From Social Networking Perverts
Posted Friday 4th April 2008 by admin
The beginning or 2008 saw a decline in social networking site, Facebooks, user base from 8.9 million to 8.5 million. This is good news for competitors MySpace and Bebo. However, all have come under criticism for lack of enforcement when it comes to the age of their users and the risk this is putting children at.
Most sites set a minimum age of 13 but do little to actively enforce this ruling and this form of socialising is becoming ever popular among 8 to 11 year olds. With 19% of all UK youngsters having a profile on at least one site, this presents a problem for parents who are concerned about their child’s safety and it also presents the ideal playground for paedophiles.
