Do I need SEO
Posted Thursday 10th January 2008 by Tom P
Chances are if your company has a website, search engine optimisation (SEO) will increase your customer base and profits. An estimated 93% of all internet traffic is conducted through search engines such as Google. Without SEO your company’s website will be located low down search engine rankings and practically invisible to potential clients.
Resolving this issue is vital to business success. A recent study has found that 97% of visitors do not look beyond the top three results while the top 10 positions received 78% more traffic than positions 11-30. Understandably businesses are realising the importance of SEO and the industry will have an estimated worth of $12 billion by 2010.

Jimmy Wales, co founder of Wikipedia was not taken seriously in 2001 when he announced he was going to create a free encyclopaedia made up of public submissions. These people however were made to eat their words as Wikipedia has gone from strength to strength, now containing 2million articles in English alone it provides a digital resource for many internet users.
Mr. Wales has recently announced that the company are to expand into the search engine market with ‘Wikia’. The new site which is being made public on January 14th is hoped to have as much success as its encyclopaedic brother.

2007 was the year of Facebook, the Apple iPhone and the Nintendo Wii. So what’s in store for 2008?
Ultra Mobile PCs
Despite numerous efforts by a number of companies the gap between small hand-held Personal Digital Assistants and full blown laptops has still not been bridged. Perhaps 2008 will be the year for the ultra mobile PC. In the past they have been unsuccessful because of poor memory capacity and short battery life but a Taiwanese manufacturer have managed to improve these problems with a product that costs less than £200. The Asus EEE is about the size of a hardback book and provides a portable solution. With Apple also set to release an ultra thin Macbook in 2008 expect to see more Ultra Mobile PCs around.
