SEO For Yahoo & Ask Important, Who Prove Fallback For Google
Posted Monday 14th June 2010 by Craig H
So, you’ve typed your search term into your browser, or perhaps the Google homepage itself, and for once, you can’t find what you need. So what do you do? Most people’s gut reaction is to avoid trawling the lower echelons of Google – and search elsewhere. A new report from Chitika seems to tell us that people go to Yahoo and Ask in very large numbers, once the King of Search has failed.
Data from 39,233 users was analysed – users who searched for the same term on different engines. The results are quite eye opening – 49.5% of people switched to Yahoo, 30.29% went across to Ask, and 16.4% went to Bing. Just 3.8% resorted to using AOL.
SEO Almost Impossible in Vietnam
Posted Friday 11th June 2010 by Catherine
Top search engine Google has accused the Vietnam government of blocking access to certain websites and tracking user activity. Regualtions passed in April of this year specify that internet locations install special software on their computers by 2011. At the moment, this has been restricted to Hanoi and will choke the life out of internet cafe’s – a thriving business and social meeting place in Vietnam.
But why? Speculation abounds that it is a wholly political issue. A report about the restrictions placed on internet searches was posted by Viet Tan – a pro-democracy group. Being a strictly communist government, they see Viet Tan as a terror group looking to promote democracy but according to the US, there is no proof of this.

Posted Wednesday 9th June 2010 by Kerry
Following a ‘You & A’ session with Matt Cutts at SMX Advanced, there is finally some solid information about the Caffeine update, which has now gone live, and what it could mean for search engine optimisation. Google Caffeine, according to Cutts, has the capacity to allow content to be searchable just seconds after it has been crawled, and a wider range of content will now be deemed relevant than before.

Internet Marketing on the iPhone: Questions For Jobs
Posted Friday 4th June 2010 by Craig H
The D8 Conference has been electrified by an interview with Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs, in which he cleared up some big issues surrounding the iPhone platform. Much of the subject matter revolved around Apple TV, competing with Android and shunning Flash, but in this post we’ll be looking at the search aspect of internet marketing on the iPhone.
One of the big questions he laid to rest was the issue of limiting or banning Google from Apple’s iDevices – they will not be doing so.
Will Internet Marketing Experts Appreciate New Twitter Features?
Posted Thursday 3rd June 2010 by Ben J
It appears to be development season for microblogging phenomenon Twitter – in the last week, we’ve seen the advent of two substantial updates, though they are only in the testing phase. Perhaps the most important update for developers, SEO experts and internet marketing specialists is the Annotations function which will allow for the addition of any type of meta data to Tweets.
At this stage, it’s entirely up to the developers what kind of meta data they would like to attach to the Tweets, providing it doesn’t exceed 512 bytes. Twitter has recommended that developers begin by attaching annotations regarding location, websites, reviews, music and similar.
SEO Community Again Rife With Bing-iPhone Search Rumours
Posted Wednesday 2nd June 2010 by Craig H
The rumour that Bing may be chosen as the default search engine for the iPhone has resurfaced once again. This crucial platform has long been a big prize for the search engine industry – and so far Google has claimed it for itself. But Techcrunch have said that multiple reliable sources are pointing to a Bing-iPhone Hookup.
SEO
Securing the default search engine on the iPhone is worth a huge amount to both Google and Bing in terms of controlling a burgeoning area of internet marketing. But Google’s rival platform Android (and with it the Nexus phone) is becoming a significant threat to Apple, which is increasingly concerned with Google’s dominance in the iPhone application market (think search and maps) and so notions of detaching from Google are understandably going to increase, turning heads across the SEO community.
Google Ditches Windows – Will SEO Suffer?
Posted Tuesday 1st June 2010 by Ben J
When Google was attacked by Chinese hackers earlier this year, it looked like they came in through an Internet Explorer vulnerability, so it’s perhaps not surprising that the search company are gradually phasing out the Windows operating system in their offices.
The Financial Times is reporting that they have been flocking away from the popular operating system since January, shortly after the attacks took place. New employees are offered either a Mac or a PC with Linux installed and although some workers can install the OS on their laptops but authorisation from “quite senior levels” is required if they want to keep it on their desktop PC’s.
Should We Be Targeting Multiple Keywords In SEO
Posted Friday 28th May 2010 by Catherine
Many clients come to High Position with one or two keywords in mind, their primary target, and want to be listed for these as soon as possible. Is this realistic and will it solve their issues or increase sales? Well, best practice SEO takes time – it takes time to implement and it takes time to have an effect on the site itself but executed correctly it can have lasting benefits. Why not let these benefits stretch across the board by targeting more than one or two main terms.
The key to this is quality research. Really knowing your market and your competition and obstacles are the starting point you need. Keyword research plays the main role here. What are your target audience searching for – it may not be the same terms as you think and without the right words or phrases you could be losing out on a lot of potential sales.
High Position experts carry out detailed keyword research and use this as a base to begin optimising a website with quality content that is SEO focused but just as importantly – is readable to visitors. We’ve all seen websites that are spammed with keywords – they do not read naturally and make the website appear ‘desperate’. A natural, readable content that is ‘SEO’d up’ is the most efficient option. If more than one keyword can be targeted within this material then in the long term the site should become visible within search results for all its options.
